Communications Manager - Museums

Hutt City Museums is looking for a talented communications specialist to join our innovative and highly motivated team.

We are looking for a Communications Manager who is passionate about finding unique ways to share the exhibitions, events and programmes of the Hutt City Council Museums which includes The Dowse Art Museum, Petone Settlers Museum, Little Theatre and community arts.

We are looking for someone passionate about engaging with arts and culture who has excellent and extensive communications skills to help us nurture and grow our audiences.

You will quickly develop strong relationships with local, national and international media to ensure the work we do enjoys widespread coverage. As a member of the HCC Museums' leadership team your people, budget and strategic skills will be highly refined and underpinned by your commitment to the principals of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

In this role you will be responsible for:

  • Proactive PR locally, nationally and in specialist arts publications and platforms
  • Planning and delivering marketing campaigns to support the work of the Museums team.
  • Provide management support to the Public Programmes Coordinator as they plan and deliver events across the Museums' team that help connect audiences to the work we do.
  • Provide management support to the Designer as they create visual identities and collateral that helps audiences connect with the work of the Museums' team.
