Compliance Administration Officer

Are you passionate about ensuring our natural resources are protected?

Environment Canterbury is changing the way regional governance is managed in one of New Zealand's largest, most diverse and naturally stunning regions, using a customer-centred approach to facilitating sustainable development.

We are looking for a Compliance Administration Officer to join our team and support field officers who respond to environmental incidents.

This role requires a capable and responsible person to receive information, evaluate the situation and initiate our incident response service. A key part of the role is ensuring that multiple parties are kept informed throughout the incident, whether co-ordinating information during a major event or advising customers of the actions taken to resolve a complaint. It is essential the successful applicant is a skilled communicator and comfortable dealing with a range of customers, stakeholders and colleagues over the phone.

The position is office-based, 40 hours/week 8.30am - 5.00pm Monday - Friday and involves working with both people and systems on a daily basis. A key outcome of the role is to ensure incidents and complaints are followed up in a timely manner, and to ensure information is accurately recorded and reported on. We also receive a number of requests from media and interested parties for environmental information which must be provided quickly and to a high quality.

Strong candidates will have an interest in environmental regulations and have experience in using customer relationship systems and co-ordinating people. In addition, you will be a great organiser, able to find pragmatic solutions, see and act upon opportunities for improvement, and be agile and responsive to the needs of our customers whilst considering our ability to deliver quality services to the community.

To assist with assessing your competencies and fit for the role, please ensure your application includes examples of previous experience which match the requirements for this position.
