Senior Transport Planner - NZ

We have a key Transport Planner role available within our Auckland office. You will be responsible for the provision of transport planning advice and technical services to support projects and deliver technical excellence across a diverse range of public and private client organisations. Key factors for this role is strong communication skills, a willingness to work hard and be rewarded, and an enthusiasm for connecting and raising with local markets and as a global practice.

This role will see you:
• Provide transport planning advice and technical services to drive projects forward and deliver upon the expectations of clients
• Stay abreast of advances in industry approaches and methods of delivery related to the better business case approach, planning and design best practice, strategy and policy at all levels of government and emerging technologies and changing behaviours of transport users.
• Apply analytical skills and knowledge of various tools to provide project support.
• Be client focused, identifying opportunities for both internal and external clients and how these may be addressed by the team, region and wider Mott MacDonald group
• Understand clients current and future potential needs, and documenting how they will be achieved in proposals and project plans
• Taking part in technical excellence practice areas and developing innovative ideas to deliver more efficiently
• Provide mentoring, guidance and technical advice to junior staff to upskill and assist in their professional development

We need someone with an appreciation of cities, urban planning and placemaking. Someone who understands the demand and supply side of current and future transport issues. Someone who is confident and pro-active, good at problem solving. Someone who writes confidently and produces high quality outputs; and is equally confident interrogating numbers, data and spreadsheets. We need someone who can understand what our clients want, and how to help them achieve the outcomes they need.

You will have:
• A Bachelor’s Degree in Transport Planning, Town Planning or a related field.
• Rounded experience in transport and/or urban planning with demonstrable skills in areas such as sustainable transport planning, urban planning, social research, and strategy and policy development.
• Proven record in relationship building with clients and colleagues.
• Experience inf transport planning techniques and use of key transport planning modelling software
• Evidence of, and experience in, project management of a range of projects.
