- CEO & General Management, Board Appointments
New Zealand Thoroughbred Racing Incorporated (NZTR) seeks applications or nominations to fill an extraordinary vacancy on its Board caused by the resignation of Mr Dean McKenzie to chair the Racing Industry Transition Agency (RITA).
NZTR is the Code responsible for the administration and advancement of thoroughbred racing in New Zealand, and for representing the interests of our constituent racing clubs, licensed participants, thoroughbred horses and all those who derive a living from thoroughbred racing.
New Zealand racing is currently engaged in a challenging period of change as the Government works through the implementation of the Messara Report released last year, involving RITA and likely introduction of a new wagering organisation. The successful appointee will have the skills and experience to guide the organisation as it adapts to its new roles and responsibilities.
The successful appointee will ideally possess proven commercial and governance experience at a senior level, either inside or outside racing administration, and have an understanding of thoroughbred racing. Experience in marketing, including digital marketing to the younger generations would be an advantage, as would property management and some understanding of wagering.
A position description is available on request.
Applications, including a cover letter and curriculum vitae, should be in writing and received by NZTR’s Secretary and General Counsel by 5 pm on Friday 26 July 2019 either by email at email@example.com or at NZTR’s postal address, which is Level 3, 106-110 Jackson Street, Petone, Lower Hutt 5012.
