KiwiNet is recruiting for a Marketing and Communication Specialist to work alongside and support our commercialisation team and public research organisations across the country to market and communicate exciting commercial opportunities emerging from public research discoveries.

Together they are driving us towards a globally competitive technology sector that delivers significant economic growth and prosperity.

KiwiNet is the combined power of 18 of New Zealand’s Universities, Crown Research Institutes and other research organisations who receive public funding. Together these research organisations represent a total combined research expenditure of over $800 million and represent over 80% of the publicly funded researchers in New Zealand. Working closely with the Marketing and Events Manager, and reporting to the KiwiNet CEO, this role will be responsible for developing and curating content for KiwiNet audiences, including investors, researchers, commercialisation professionals, KiwiNet ecosystem partners and Government stakeholders.

The role will also support measuring researcher perceptions and engagement; and developing communication plans and compelling content for all KiwiNet audiences. Other key responsibilities include: Managing KiwiNet’s social media accounts, the web portal and CRM system, developing case studies and PR on success stories, and the development of marketing and online content, including videos. A key project will be supporting the coordination of the national research commercialisation awards. 

To be successful you will need to have proven experience delivering high quality, creative content that engages with our key audiences and raises KiwiNet’s profile. Key attributes include: social media savvy and content management experience, excellent written communication skills with a strong focus on brand, a creative mind with demonstrated ability to be innovative and bold, and an eye for detail. The ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, a collaborative attitude and being highly-organised are essential skills required. Previous experience working with science and technology content as well as project management skills would be an advantage. A relevant tertiary qualification is required.
