Laboratory Technician

Our client offers reliable independent testing services in the areas of environmental, non ferrous metals and precious metals to the mining industry. If you are seeking your first permanent Lab Technician role, this is an ideal opportunity. You will join a very busy commercial laboratory and will work with like minded people in a team environment. The role will suit those candidates with a tertiary qualification in Chemistry seeking to develop their career. The company will provide ongoing training to help you reach your potential.

The Role

Reporting to the Laboratory Manager, responsibilities will include the analysis of geochemical and environmental samples, providing a quick and accurate turnaround to clients. You will also have responsibility for running AAS and ICP-MS instruments and will assist with maintaining Quality control. The role operates on a shift system, 4 days on, 4 days off. This enables a great lifestyle.

The Requirements

The role will appeal to a motivated individual with some Lab experience (gained during University Holidays)  with functional and technical knowledge in a range of laboratory techniques. A high degree of accuracy is required together with the abilty to manage a consistent workload. 

To be successful in this position, you will possess the following attributes:        

  • A Tertiary Science Qualification and ideally some experience in geochemical assay processes and analysis including AAS/ICP-MS together with a good knowledge of Lab Quality Systems.
  • Well-developed verbal communication skills plus report writing capabilities.
  • A commercial understanding together with a positive attitude and excellent time management skills.
  • A commitment to Quality, Risk Management and HSE Management Systems.
