Capability Advisor

Working with partner organisations, the Community Sport team aims to increase meaningful experiences for those involved in sport and active recreation, and to strengthen the broader sport system. Through coaching, supporting the development of organisational and system wide leadership, we work across four key portfolios; community engagement, athlete development, organisational capability, and young people. 

 

Bringing together our expertise and the expertise of those we work with, we influence, build networks, advocate and motivate organisations within the greater Wellington region to improve their capability, capacity and performance. Therefore, contributing to the Sport Wellington vision of everyone in the greater Wellington region having a lifelong involvement in sport and active recreation.

 

As Capability Advisor, you will strengthen the capability, capacity and performance of partner organisations in the greater Wellington region sport and recreation system through targeted support in business development, leadership, volunteer and people management, and customer focus. 

 

Key tasks of this role include:  

  • Providing capability support to community partner organisations, especially in the areas of business development, customer engagement and workforce development.  

  • Developing and maintain relationships with key partner organisations 

  • Support the effective implementation of key projects, achieving agreed targets and provide progress reports and proposals to Sport Wellington management and relevant partners. 

Essential Skills include: 

  • Tertiary qualification or equivalent experience in business and customer engagement 

  • Skilled and experienced in identifying and developing strong relationships and the ability to relate to people at all levels 

  • Excellent Communication skills (listening, verbal and written) 

  •  The candidate will need a full, clean driver’s license.
