We seek a dynamic leader to plan, build capability, deliver and recover the intelligence support to the APEC21 Security Programme.  The APEC21 Security Programme includes intelligence support to America's Cup 2021 and will be implemented in tandem with the Transforming Intelligence 2021 (Ti21) strategic programme.

 

About the APEC21 Security Programme:

The APEC21 Programme is an all-of-government programme which is responsible for all aspects of the preparation for New Zealand to host a safe and secure APEC (Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation) in 2021.  NZ Police lead the APEC21 Security Programme.  The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade lead the APEC21 Programme.

 

APEC 2021 will be the largest event ever hosted by the New Zealand Government, with 18,000-22,000 participants (including Leaders, Ministers, officials, media, business people and youth) expected during the year.  Around 12 blocks of significant meetings are held during the year, culminating in Leaders Week in Auckland, 8-14 November 2021, to which the leaders of all 21 APEC economies are invited.

 

The APEC21 Security Programme teams objectives seek to ensure that:

  • No people or property are harmed due to APEC security incidents
  • No staff or visitors suffer harm due to health and safety breaches
  • Non-attendance by Leaders at APEC21 is not due to safety concerns
  • Visitors rank NZ highly for safety and security
  • Minimise adverse economic impacts on business and New Zealanders
  • Minimise delays in crime response in the APEC hosting regions

 

Skills:

  • Lead, direct and collect intelligence to deliver on Our Business
  • Collaborate and engage with stakeholders and intelligence agencies to deliver a safe and secure APEC2021
  • Design, develop and deliver solutions in partnership with stakeholders
  • Identify problems and implement solutions that reduce offending
  • Present complex issues (written or verbal) clearly to a range of audiences

 

Experience:

  • Experience in roles that have led to successful outcomes and results
  • Experience in intelligence method and practice as it relates to responding to major events
  • Experience in programme/project management is desirable
  • Experience in innovation, change management and training

 

Competencies: Level Two Team Manager/Leader

Additional Information:

  • Two positions available
  • This is a remote role for a period of 24 months plus potential 12 month renewal

 

Special Requirements:
