About the opportunity

Reporting to the Board of Directors and leading a team of managers across the four primary attractions, the Chief Executive Officer takes overall accountability for the performance and success of the portfolio. In this context, performance spans commercial, customer and safety. In doing this, the Chief Executive Officer will:

  • Provide strong and visible leadership across each attraction; coaching and guiding managers to help them to achieve their goals.
  • Lead a culture where delivering an exceptional customer experience is central to all attractions.
  • Further develop and lead a culture of safety across the portfolio; ensuring that the safety and wellbeing of visitors and teams is paramount at all times.
  • Drive commercial performance; ensuring budgets are set and met, capital investment is optimally utilised and financial success measures are achieved.
  • Appropriately represent Christchurch Attractions to the market and to all stakeholders – internally and externally - to support the achievement of strategic and operational goals.
  • Lead the identification and development of new markets and product opportunities.
  • Contribute to strategic thinking and planning to develop opportunities and create further success for the business.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will be a proven leader, ideally with exposure to leading delivery teams where customer experience is the primary focus. You will demonstrate an extremely high level of sales, marketing and business acumen - your strong commercial and strategic capability means you keep an eye on driving business and safety excellence. Exceptional communication skills are critical, you will inspire and lead a dedicated team while also shining the spotlight on the attractions within the group. You are a champion of quality and service with a focus on continuous improvement. While this is a senior leadership role, you will not be afraid to roll up your sleeves and get the job done alongside your team.

You may not have experience in the tourism sector, but you will be an experienced leader with a reputation for engaging at all levels and the ability to develop strong and far-reaching networks.
