The Company

This is a large, complex, technology organisation providing core and unique IT services to shareholders that provide services to a large population in the Northern Region covering Auckland to Northland.

The organisation is both leading and undergoing significant transformation as an enabler for the key stakeholders/shareholders it provides IT shared services to. The executive leadership team is as group of highly specialised change agents who are experienced in delivering large transformation projects in the commercial sector and who also bring their expertise to assist in delivering to the public sector.

The role of Chief Financial Officer will be instrumental in managing the financial and non-financial performance of the organisation and will play a pivotal influencing role with regional stakeholders at a peer level across multiple entities.

Reporting to the CEO, you will be responsible for developing and reviewing business cases including financial assessments providing a line of sight on both operational and project related activity.

The business is focusing on strengthening the commerciality and financial stewardship of the organisation by providing the CEO with strategic and operational financial insights and reporting to provide efficiencies and productivity gains across the organisation.

The CFO will review the overall performance of the finance function and provide recommendations to improve the existing financial structure, processes, systems and procedures to meet the needs of our business and key stakeholders expectations.

Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Operating as part of a Leadership Team responsible for the strategy, P&L and day to day operations of the business
  • Building partnerships with internal and external partners, facilitating an effective and robust financial reporting framework
  • Leading the Accounting, reporting, commercial and corporate services functions, driving awareness and accountability
  • Driving continuous improvements to Financial Operations
  • Leading and supporting new projects to develop improvements across all services delivered
  • Coaching, developing and mentoring the Finance Team to build capability in line with improvements and higher expectations
  • Plus you will have a genuine desire to add value to the business and will work with multi-site teams to understand requirements and develop reporting and insights processes with your team.
  
Key skills and experience

The candidate must:
  • Have proven Board level exposure, capable of communicating outcomes that senior stakeholders can easily understand
  • Have a high degree of commercial awareness, strategic and financial acumen, balanced with a dedicated service ethic.
  • Have demonstrable experience in Service related organisations of a large scale (preferably technology related company) that also deliver large scale and complex projects (need to have experience with companies that deliver circa $50m annual portfolio’s and projects with total life of $100m+).  
  • Be solutions-driven and a competent problem solver, decision-making will be one of your key strengths and your ability to influence diverse stakeholders will be second to none.
  • Have experience managing a full and complex finance function
  • Have proven experience of setting up systems and/or change management within existing systems
  • Have experience in building and developing a finance function through periods of growth and development, and adapted to a changing and complex business stage  a key stage of the company's growth and development
