Finance Manager NZ

Join us as the leader of our New Zealand Retail & Shared Services Finance team and a key member of the country Management Team. You will oversee all aspects of accounting and finance, whilst providing commercial support to the Country Manager and local Management Team. Your ability to envision, enable strategy and energise the team will help deliver great results in a business that not only has a great history but also a strong current growth trajectory.  Your influencing, problem-solving, business process re-engineering, analytical and leadership capabilities will be called into use. Auckland based with some occasional local or international travel.

About the role
As the Finance Manager of New Zealand, you will report to the Finance Director of Australia/New Zealand, but work quite autonomously, supporting the New Zealand Country Manager and local executive team. Your responsibilities will include

  • Leading the Finance function including financial shared services (General Ledger, Receivables and outsourced Payables), management accounting, financial and statutory reporting, cash flow management, budgeting and forecasting, audit, risk management and business planning
  • Providing timely and accurate reporting and analysis of budget variances, financial trends and forecasts to ensure effective and informed decision making
  • Working in partnership with other members of the management and broader business team to identify and realise opportunities that contribute to JDE NZ’s financial sustainability and growth
  • Ensuring the assets of the company are used to maximum effectiveness i.e. working capital and, cash generation optimised, recommending actions to maintain and improve margin
  • Monitoring financial risk, and ensuring all statutory, legal and regulatory responsibilities are met
  • Establishing and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Providing training and coaching to internal stakeholders with budget/financial responsibility
  • Implementing appropriate systems and processes to ensure accurate management information is available to inform business decision making
  • Continually improving systems and processes for better efficiency, reliability and productivity

What you will bring to the role:

  • CA/CPA qualifications
  • Commercial focus with a proven track record of delivering excellent results
  • Ideally a background in FMCG with international exposure
  • Business process re-engineering experience
  • Collaborative style of working with a willingness to be hands at times but also to step back and enable others as necessary
  • Proven experience in the production of financial information for senior management and board level
  • Well-developed planning, analytical and problem solving skills, with the ability to find and develop creative solutions
  • Strong relationship building and interpersonal skills, with the ability to add value to our existing senior leadership team
  • Experience in team building and people development
