Social Worker - Community Group Home - Christchurch

Are you an enthusiastic, motivated Social Worker who would bring a strong cultural connection to a permanent full-time (or part-time by negotiation) role supporting community based group homes in Christchurch/ Otautahi.?

DUTIES:

  • Care and support young people assisting them to make positive changes in all areas of their lives
  • Teach and support family/whanau to implement routines and programmes during the course of the admission and post-placement transition.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Hold a recognized social work qualification (Bachelor/Diploma in Social Work)
  • SWRB registered or currently applying for registration
  • Hold a current clean NZ Drivers licence
  • Have no less than 2 years’ experience working with young people and families
  • Able to work positively, empowering young people
  • Have sound knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation and regulations
  • Have excellent communication, time management and conflict resolution skills
  • The ability to establish, maintain and improve whanau connections
  • Have knowledge of kaupapa Maori and/or Whanau Ora approach
  • Previous experience in a residential environment is highly desirable
  • Being Trauma informed trained or willing to be trained 
  • Being MAPA/NVCI trained is highly desirable

Some of the work may be challenging,  so you will need to be resilient, passionate about working with young people, be flexible with a positive attitude and exhibit the ability to build strong professional relationships with young people, whanau/families, staff and service providers.
