About the role

We're seeking applications for Support Workers to support and walk alongside a young person with high and complex needs.

You'll work in a small team of residential staff to contribute to a safe environment to support the young person to engage in therapy, daily living routines, and in meaningful programmes and educational/vocational activities as outlined in the person's goal plan.

The work you will undertake in this role can sometimes be challenging and resilience is a must have quality for this role. You'll need to have the ability to remain calm, practical and rational when in complex situations or incidents. In return you'll be able make a difference and help this young person realise their potential.

This position is rostered on a rotating roster, Monday-Sunday with shift times of 7.00am-3.30pm, 3.00pm-11.30pm and a wake over of 11.00pm-7.30am.

  • support our client to work towards their personal goals and aspirations
  • provide dedicated key worker support to our client
  • confident working solo on shifts.

The preferred applicant will have the following attributes:

  • Completed the New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing - L4 or higher level of mental health support work (or equivalent), or completed Level 2 of the National Certificate in Health, Disability, and Aged Support
  • Post qualifying experience in the mental health, youth work or social work sector is an advantage
  • Demonstrated commitment to recovery values
  • Advanced communication and interpersonal skills
  • Well developed documentation and computer skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to on-going learning and professional development
  • Demonstrated commitment to the Treaty of Waitangi and culturally safe practice
  • A current full New Zealand driver's licence
