Volunteer Co-ordinator

  • Part-time 16 hours per week
  • Manawatu Prison

Our organisation doesn’t stand still; we look for new ways to improve our service and stay at the cutting edge of offender management. Every day the work we do creates a diverse range of opportunities for both our people and for offenders.

The Volunteer Coordinator is accountable to the Principal Adviser Rehabilitation and Learning for the overall coordination of volunteer engagement, training, administration and monitoring.

We are looking for a dynamic hands on person who will be responsible for the management of volunteer services at Manawatu Prison and who can assist in our goal of reducing re-offending by supporting a range of activities supplied by volunteers within a custodial environment.

Ideally, applicants can bring the following:

  • A well-grounded background in the recruitment and management of volunteers.
  • A “can-do” attitude and self-starter with skills to tackle all aspects of running the volunteer services.
  • Sensitivity to the needs of a client base with diverse cultural needs and expectations.
  • The ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with both custodial and non custodial staff.
  • Excellent administration and coordination skills and ability to work to tight deadlines.

This role is challenging and diverse and requires the ability to work effectively with a wide range of individuals and groups.

This is a part-time position working 16 hours per week Wednesday to Friday.
A full NZ drivers licence is essential to be eligible for this role.

Applications close on Tuesday 25 June 2019.
