Operator Maintainer - Instrumentation Technician

Genesis owns and operates a portfolio of thermal and renewable generation assets across New Zealand; the spread of locations and fuel types in our portfolio gives us significant operating flexibility. The Huntly Power Station is a valuable asset for Genesis as it has the ability to provide base-load generation while also being able to take advantage of higher prices in the short or medium term.

We have a fantastic development opportunity for an Operator Maintainer to join our Gas Turbine team. Joining the Gas Turbine team, you'll be operating and maintaining both our 400MW base load CCGT and our 48MW peaking plant.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with an electrical or instrumentation control systems background looking for a new challenge. The key to this role is ensuring the operation and maintenance of the generation and auxiliary plant, while ensuring resource consent and health and safety policies and regulations are met. You will be reporting on the plant conditions and remedying defects, maintaining and managing audit and operation documentation and you will be overviewing work activities to ensure safety, quality and efficiency of resources.

We are wanting someone that is flexible, adaptable and keen to learn as on the job training will be provided. To fit in with the team, you will be friendly, self-directed and a team player. The team in Huntly work on an eight-week shift cycle but we'll talk to you more about that during the interview process.

To be successful you will demonstrate the following skills and experience:

  • An electrical or a control and instrumentation trade qualification and/or equivalent experience in a related field
  • Circa 3 years in an industrial work environment

If you have an interest in the energy sector and are looking for a close knit, collaborative team environment, this is the role for you! Genesis is proud to be an inclusive work place. We celebrate difference, diversity and aim to empower our employees. We reward our staff with a great salary, 4% KiwiSaver, a power discount, a collaborative culture and ongoing development opportunities.

Please apply online.
