The Operations Supervisor role is based in Christchurch, with most of the physical work being carried out in Lyttleton. In conjunction with the Branch Manager, this position is responsible for planning, organising, supervising, monitoring and performing bunker, tanker, coal and jet release work.  

As the successful applicant, you will be proactive in ensuring maximum productive hours for yourself and your operational staff, while developing and maintaining effective and positive relationships with employees, clients and suppliers.

You will carry out bunkers, tankers, coal and lubes as required as well as occasionally assisting with other tanker/bunker operations in Timaru. This position is full time, 80 hours per fortnight and can include work during nights and weekends. However, a 60 hour per fortnight agreement may be considered for the ideal candidate.

You will be expected to ensure all activities are carried out with regard and recognition of Quality, Health and Safety and Environment requirements.

Qualifications, Skills, Experience & Attributes

  • Relevant industry experience (Oil and Gas sector or equivalent)
  • Demonstrable experience managing a small and diverse team
  • Experienced in running rosters
  • A current and full New Zealand driver’s licence
  • No criminal convictions
  • Computer literacy skills (Excel/Word – Intermediate level)
  • Effective numeracy and literacy skills
  • Ability to communicate at all levels
  • Physically fit and capable of working shifts
  • An aptitude for dealing with change
  • Ability to multi-task and work well under pressure
  • Confidence in ensuring safe working processes and having a positive attitude towards Health and Safety and the Environment
  • Participation in routine drug and alcohol testing is essential
  • Further training and support will be provided to the right applicant

Only candidates with current New Zealand working rights (Visa, Residency or Citizenship) will be considered. Applicants will be subject to pre-employment medical, drug and alcohol testing, police check and reference checking.
