Strategic Communications and Engagement Manager

  • Key influencer and deliverer
  • Stimulating and meaningful role
  • Flexible hours

Community Housing Aotearoa (CHA) is the peak body for New Zealand’s community housing sector. The organisation plays an important role in providing affordable and social housing to 25,000 New Zealanders through its 100+ provider and partner members.

This is an exciting and challenging time for a strategic engagement professional to help CHA realise the sector vision of every New Zealander being well housed in a warm, safe, dry and affordable home.

The opportunities this role offers are many and varied. The successful candidate will be CHA’s first ever in-house communications and engagement specialist so you will be able to own the media, public relations, and government relations work programmes.

The fact this role reports directly to the CE underlines the sector’s determination to take its stakeholder engagement to the next level to secure greater benefits for all New Zealanders. Advising and influencing at a senior level will feature on your CV.

As well as designing and developing activities, you will be leading the implementation. This will include, among other things, writing briefings for journalists, politicians and government officials, and leading proactive and reactive media.

This role would suit someone who has a strong desire to work in an area that’s meaningful and beneficial for all New Zealanders. It would be preferable if you have experience in the housing sector, in an NGO or with a membership body.
