We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced people leader who is ready to take on their next challenge.

The Office of the Clerk provides the House of Representatives and its committees with secretariat and administrative services, including advice on legal issues and specialist parliamentary procedure.

It is the Operational Manager's role to lead, coach and mentor a team of around 12 switched-on individuals. Along the way you will remove road-blocks and build the team, ensuring they can successfully perform in their respective roles. You will maintain a strong team spirit and an innovative customer-centric approach.

We are looking for a true leader with a natural ability to inspire and influence others to achieve great things. By encompassing these skills, you will be automatically looked to for guidance and direction. Along with your excellent relationship management skills, you will have a drive for results and a genuine desire to deliver excellent service to customers and stakeholders.

You will have previous experience in providing direction and feedback to ensure that team members are clear on what is expected of them and are recognised for their achievements. We are also looking for a leader who can are encourage their team to learn new skills and to grow in their careers.

As a manager you'll have responsibility for tasks including recruitment, budgeting, reporting and managing finances and risks. Previous experience in managing people and processes in a public sector context will be an advantage.

Key to your success in this role relies on your strong skills in the following:

  • Excellent relationship management
  • A sound knowledge of the machinery of government
  • Previous experience leading, empowering and developing a high-performing team
  • Ability to influence and lead
