An amazing opportunity exists for an energetic, enthusiastic and passionate person to join our team as a Youth Social Worker. You will be part of our Community Engagement Team working to reduce youth related offending and victimisation within the community.

 

Based in Hamilton your role will require you to maintain relationships across a range of external and internal partners to identify and work with youth and their whanau in need of intervention.

 

As a Youth Social Worker you will be confident in bi-cultural and cross-cultural settings, consistent with Police's commitment to Maori and the Treaty, as well as diversity, as you work with youth and their whanau, make assessments, identify, develop and implement plans and/or programs and complete reviews and documentation to a high standard, with a focus on sustainable outcomes.

 

Skills & Experience

  • Demonstrate skill in coaching/mentoring
  • Demonstrate an ability to plan and implement interventions
  • Demonstrate an ability to engage and challenge others 
  • Demonstrate a knowledge of the 'YJ' process
  • Demonstrate understanding of tikanga and working in bi and cross cultural settings
  • Demonstrate an ability to develop and deliver sustainable early interventions
     

 

Special requirements

  • Full NZ Driver’s License
  • Ability to obtain appropriate security clearance
  • Reside in the Waikato District
