Our client is the world leader in food, pharmaceutical and environmental contract laboratory services. In New Zealand, they provide Food, Environmental and Pharma based analytical solutions to customers taking product to market for both the domestic and export sectors.


The Role


Due to company growth, a permanent position for an experienced GC chemist is now available in the Environmental Services division with our client.,.


Monday-Friday 8am - 5pm; Willingness to work flexible shifts.


Duties:

• Routine preparation and analysis of samples
• Maintaining standards
• Operating GC-FID, GC-MS, and GC-MS/MS
• Maintenance of GC instrumentation
• Analysing data and reporting results
• Maintaining quality controls
• Contributing to effective laboratory operations in regard to quality and safety
• Instrument calibration and maintenance
• Uphold IANZ accreditation requirements
• Other duties as directed


Ideal Skills & Experience


Essential


• BSc degree (chemistry) or equivalent ie Chemical Engineering
• Prior experience in a similar role covering above duties
• Experience with GC operation and trouble shooting
• Familiar with National Environmental Standards and US EPA methods
• Experience working in an ISO accredited laboratory
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Enthusiastic, self-starter, can do attitude
• Attention to detail and use of initiative
• Problem solver and a quick learner
• Full working rights in New Zealand


Desirable:

• KTP certification with IANZ
• Experience working in ISO17025 lab
