Emergency Housing Navigator

The role

Providing support from within our Emergency Housing service, this role is focused on providing support and guidance to those in our emergency housing to find long term housing. Where required, it may also be necessary for you to connect clients to social services to ensure that wrap around support is in place and there is an expectation that you will liaise with stakeholders to achieve successful outcomes.

You will be required to develop with your clients both long and short term goals to support them on their journey into finding long term sustainable housing, this will be done by coordinating with both internal and external colleagues.

Who we're looking for:

  • We are looking for someone who has a genuine interest and understanding of homelessness, the social and/or the emergency housing sector
  • You will be positive, flexible, vibrant, confident and passionate about working in our service
  • You'll naturally be a problem solver, quick thinker and enjoy connecting with the community
  • You'll use your non judgemental attitude and belief to encourage clients to change and grow
  • You'll be able to work in a dynamic and ever changing environment so we will require someone with a positive and forward thinking attitude

What you need:

  • Knowledge of the housing sector or experience of working with those with a housing need is preferable
  • Background in social services is advantageous
  • It's essential that you have a full New Zealand driver's licence
  • Strong computer skills, a 'can-do' attitude and be able to demonstrate strong personal and professional boundaries
