Do you enjoy legal work that is infinitely varied and can range from unsafe fairground rides to major infrastructure developments and everything else in between? If you want a role that is both fast-paced and rewarding, where work-life balance is not just something in the job ad, then read on!

The Legal and Commercial group are looking for a Team Leader to develop and manage an effective and sustainable legal services framework, to ensure Elected Members and the wider Council have the information and advice to appropriately meet legal obligations.

As Team Leader for the Legal team you will be providing leadership, support and development for a team of five lawyers, as well as empowering other Council teams and ensuring a high standard of legal service.

You will also be overseeing and managing advice from Council's external legal providers and helping to contribute to the development of legal training for staff and the development of associated policies and procedures. As Team Leader: Legal you will be working closely with the Risk and Procurement teams that make up the wider Legal and Commercial group in order to deliver a strong commercial advisory service to the Council.

At this level and to be suitable for this position you will have a Bachelor of Laws degree or equivalent and around 10 years plus post-qualification experience, preferably with a background in administrative, commercial or regulatory / RMA law.

This is a position where you will get to show your leadership, people-management and legal skills. You will be working in a fast-paced and fun legal environment alongside senior lawyers covering a range of specialisations, including litigation, commercial and property law. The ideal candidate does not need to come from an in-house legal background, but will have a proven track-record of managing budgets and juggling multiple legal files. If this sounds like you, we would love to hear from you!
