Te Hau Tapu me te Puna Oranga, WelTec's School of Social Services, is seeking to employ a Workplace Co-ordinator to join the School of Health and Social Services team. This position is based in Porirua but working from other WelTec campuses may be required.

What does the job involve?

The Workplace co-ordinator is responsible for negotiating and arranging agency, work placement, practicums which meet the practice learning requirements for students within the School of Social Services. The Coordinator acts as liaison between WelTec and placement agencies to support learning experiences of students.

A snapshot of the role:

  • Collaborate and consult with Tutors to determine the educational requirements of practicum experiences for students
  • Establish and maintain relationships with representatives of agencies in which students are placed
  • Communicate with agencies regarding plans for student placements, this will include organisation and ensuring the practice learning agreement for students are completed
  • Ensure the administrative, supervision and assessment components of the learning agreement is recorded
  • Initiate and ensure completion of contracts between WelTec, students and practicum agencies

  • Relevant qualifications and industry experience in social services
  • Have excellent organisational skills and experience in coordination and operational management
  • Have knowledge of Tikanga Māori and ability to relate to people from different cultures
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to prioritise and multi-task
  • Understand and practice student, client, agency boundary setting
  • A full clean driver's licence
  • Lastly, you're reliable, proactive and helpful by nature

Your well-developed community and social services networks will assist in engaging with the local community and Crown agencies to negotiate and secure appropriate work placements.

Applicants for this position will need to pass a police vetting check, inclusive of a child safety check under the Vulnerable Children's Act 2014.
