The Christchurch City Mission is a social service agency working with those who are poor, sick, addicted and lonely.  People of all ages, races, religion and gender who have a need are treated with dignity and given a hand up and the help that they require.  With more than 70 full and part-time staff, plus approximately 180 volunteers, the Christchurch City Mission is a growing organisation, providing a range of essential services across the city and beyond.

About the Position

The City Mission’s Men’s Day Programme runs a broad programme for our men, from educational, job search and job readiness programmes through to life skills, budgeting, health and personal wellness programmes, and everything in between! 

We are seeking a second Men’s Day Programme Coordinator to join the team.  You’ll be working alongside our existing Coordinator to plan, organise and run these programmes.  You’ll also be tasked with creating and identifying creative and innovative opportunities and initiatives that will benefit and support our men.

This is 40 hour per week position (Monday – Friday, 8.30am – 5.00pm)         

Ideal Appointee

Our ideal appointee will have passion, heart and empathy for the City Mission’s clients, and a genuine desire to work alongside them to reach their goals.  They will have a positive and enthusiastic attitude, great communication skills and strong computer/admin abilities.  They’ll likely have worked in a community or social services role before, and have good networks and knowledge in these areas.

This role requires an excellent understanding of personal boundaries and ethical issues and how they present in a work environment, as well as experience in conflict resolution, calming and de-escalation, and managing and reading groups.
