Parks and Gardens Maintenance Officer - Botanic Gardens

The Botanic Gardens is the heart of Christchurch's reputation as the Garden City. It holds an impressive collection of plants and provides a tranquil oasis for both tourists and its inhabitants.

As a Parks Maintenance Officer you'll ensure that the Botanic Gardens, conservatories and associated assets are presented and maintained in a manner that enhances its esteemed reputation.

Primarily based within the Botanic Gardens team, you'll work alongside the Collection Curators helping with the day to day horticultural needs and assisting with collection development. However, as a team player and someone who is flexible and adaptable, you'll also assist other Parks Services and Operations team members as required and participate in rotation amongst parks activities as required to address demand in area workloads.

You'll have a full driver's licence, a minimum of level 4 National Certificate in Horticulture or equivalent, and extensive experience working in similar role. A Grow Safe qualification would be highly desirable. As the Botanic Gardens has over a million visitors a year, you'll also be able to communicate clearly and engage with members of the public and tourists assisting with their queries.
