Process & Project Engineer

Our Company

Lawter (NZ) Limited are a global chemical manufacturing and distribution company who use renewable resources.  We are a global leader in products and technologies developed using pine chemicals and resources. Our New Zealand site is located in Mount Maunganui, we have a fantastic team and recognise that our people are our biggest asset.

The role

Our dynamic environment now requires a Chemical Engineer who is passionate about being hands on and actively out on site engaging with the team.  Due to the number of site developments planned we are ideally looking for candidates who are experienced in Project Engineering.  The main focus of the role is to identify, research, coordinate and manage the successful completion of process engineering tasks as well as supporting with the successful completion of many Engineering projects.

We are an MHF facility so H&S is paramount and we need an experienced Engineer who is used to working in demanding environments, is adept at continually adapting to priorities and is able to use initiative to get things done.  

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process investigations, operational efficiency, improve plant reliability
  • Successful completion of engineering projects within budget
  • Site regulatory compliance
  • Diagnosing of issues and the implementation of solutions
  • Process safety management
  • Debottlenecking, troubleshooting

Key Skills Attributes & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical/Mechanical Engineering with mechanical aptitude.
  • Proven experience managing projects, including reporting and capital development.
  • Sound knowledge of operations and at least 2 years’ experience in a Manufacturing environment. 
  • Knowledge of legislation/regulations relevant to the manufacturing and chemical industry.
  • HAZOP experience would be advantageous.
  • Experience with AutoCAD (or equivalent).
  • Excellent communication and organisation skills, with exceptional detail orientation.
