The position

We are recruiting for a System Administrator position on a fixed term basis. The System Administrator will be working on the STRATUS project (Security Technologies Returning Accountability, Trust and User-centric Services in the Cloud), funded by Ministry of Business, Innovation, and Employment, New Zealand. This project is expected to be completed by 30 September 2020.

As a Systems Administrator, you will be responsible for administering, deploying and maintaining all IT systems and networks, and updating security policies and procedures within the High Tech Transdisciplinary Research Network centres. 

You will work closely with our research lead Cyber Security and the project team to continuously maintain excellence in our operating and network systems.

About you

To be successful in this position you will have familiarity with common network debugging tools and a solid knowledge of Linux and computer networking. Your experience in open source hypervisors KVM, Xen, OpenVZ and cloud infrastructure management, combined with a commitment to solving difficult problems are essential to being successful in this role.

You may hold appropriate certifications like CCNA/CCNP or equivalent, and have experience with Windows and tools including Ansible, Puppet, Chef etc.

We are also looking for you to demonstrate evidence of active engagement in building diverse, inclusive and equitable workplaces/environments, and an understanding (or desire to learn) Te Reo Māori, Tikanga Māori and the values and practices of Kaupapa Māori.
