About the role

We have a fantastic opportunity for a People Consultant to join our generalist team for a fixed-term 12 month contract. As a People Consultant, you will provide expert HR support and advice in a key business area portfolio. A truly generalist role, you will contribute to the development of, and consistently apply BNZ people frameworks in areas such as ER, recruitment and selection, performance, reward, and organisational development. The role is critical to quality and consistent practice in often complex organisational, team and people situations.

What you'll do:

  • Be able to work collaboratively within the wider team and act independently to manage and resolve complex HR issues
  • Support our people leaders by creating, interpreting and applying policies and procedures that drive and embed a high performance culture at BNZ
  • Identify and mitigate people-related risks
  • Contribute to the development of, and consistently apply BNZ people frameworks in areas such as employment relations, recruitment and selection, performance,reward, and organisational development

What you'll bring:

  • Ideally three plus years experience in a human resources generalist role or relevant business discipline which would assist in the understanding of people or business unit management issues
  • Significant HR experience in a large corporate with an additional HR specialist discipline, eg. ER, OD, reward, etc
  • Sound understanding of ER legislation and the ability to interpret policies and make recommendations, as well as an understanding of mediation and personal grievance processes
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels and manage your stakeholders' expectations and deliver on time and to a high standard
  • Able to coach people leaders to maximise performance
