Gardener Assistant

Hamilton City Council’s City Parks team are looking for a Garden Assistant to join their dedicated and enthusiastic Infrastructure Alliance Landscape team.

The Garden Assistant is responsible for maintaining the roadside verges and planting that help make our city beautiful. 

Our ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:

  • Maintaining gardens and mechanical machinery 
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • A team player who has a positive can-do attitude, someone who is eager to pitch-in and get the job done
  • Solutions-oriented and outcomes focused
  • Excellent time management, personal accountability and punctuality
  • The ability to keep to a schedule and meet deadlines
  • A full drivers licence and the ability to drive manual vehicles
  • The ability to keep focused on the job and refrain from using personal devices during working hours.

It’s essential you enjoy working outdoors all year round and have a good level of fitness, as the role can be physically demanding at times.

We are looking for someone with an interest and ambition to grow their career in the horticulture industry. If you don’t have all the technical skills and knowledge, but you have the right attitude, a willingness to learn and a preference for being part of a team then we are keen to hear from you. 

The recruiting range starts at $20.00 per hour and is based on qualifications and relevant experience.
