About the Business
Wedgelock Equipment Ltd is a local manufacturer of excavator attachments for the construction industry supplying work tools to the Australasian market from our facility in Upper Hutt. As a global player, we have a dedicated team of engineers delivering product design to partners in the USA, developing new product and continuously improving our process of manufacture.
We're looking for an experienced mechanical engineer to hit the ground running and join our development team, working out of our manufacturing facility in Upper Hutt.
The development team are a critical part of our business, responsible for bringing new product to market. As part of this team you will help take projects from concept to production handover, which can include the development of specific tooling for product manufacture as well as production process instructions. Demand for our latest innovation is high and we need an experienced, practical engineer to help get the product to market.
It is expected members of this team will be hands on in the development process, working in the office, developing concepts on paper or CAD, verifying design by calculation, and in the workshop, building & assessing prototypes, designing & building suitable test equipment to validate performance, installing & following field trial units.
The Ideal Candidate
We're a small, tight knit team, so you will need to be able to work collaboratively, sharing the workload with a positive and approachable personality. You will have a tertiary qualification in mechanical engineering, NZCE or higher with several years experience in a manufacturing or development environment. Our primary design tool is Solidworks, so we expect you will be competent using this tool to produce robust parts and assemblies with attention to detail when releasing manufacturing drawings. To round things off you will be capable in the workshop and aware of health and safety workshop practices.
