About the Organisation
Our client, Good Shepherd NZ, is focused on supporting better futures for women and girls experiencing disadvantage. Good Shepherd NZ works in the areas of social and financial exclusion, and its most significant project to date is its microfinance programme, in partnership with BNZ, the Government and community-based organisations, providing fair and affordable credit to families on limited incomes.

 Good Shepherd NZ is expanding both its microfinance and social inclusion work, and consequently a new position has been created to support the expansion of the broader organisation.
  
About the role
Finance
  • l Prepare and manage monthly general ledger reconciliations, including Bank reconciliations, for all New Zealand Good Shepherd entities
  • l Monthly recording and reconciliation of investment transactions and management of investment records
  • l Prepare Monthly and Quarterly Management Reports for all New Zealand Good Shepherd entities
  • l Prepare Finance Reports for the Boards
  • l Attend Board meetings and present Finance Reports to the Boards
  • l Provide Management Accounting support and advice to the Good Shepherd NZ Limited Chief Executive and Programme Managers as required
  • l Develop programme costings within costing models
  • l Undertake strategic financial projects as directed by the Chief Executive
  • l Fixed Asset Ledger Maintenance and reconciliation to the General Ledger
  • l Prepare and manage annual organisational budgets for all New Zealand Good Shepherd entities
  
Admin
  • l Manage health and safety and other legislative compliance, as required
  • l Manage insurance arrangements for all New Zealand Good Shepherd entities
  • l Develop and maintain organisational policies and procedures
  • l Manage human resources administration and professional development needs, as required
  • l Liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders including other Good Shepherd network organisations, boards and wider team, financial institutions and programme partners.
  • l Work collaboratively with other service providers to deliver valued outcomes for clients
  
About you
  • l Bachelor degree in Accountancy/Commerce and CA qualification (or equivalent)
  • l At least five years plus experience in a senior accounting role with demonstrated high level knowledge of accounting and investment issues (including foreign currency), particularly as they affect not-for-profit organisations
  • l Sound knowledge of NZ statutory reporting requirements and NZ Accounting Standards as they apply to not-for-profit organisations
  • l High level financial reporting and analytical skills for management
  • l Strong reporting skills, and ability to quickly evaluate information
  • l Excellent systems development skills
