Trainee SCADA/ Communications Technician

Based in Hamilton, we play an essential role in the region's development by delivering innovative energy solutions, which enables our communities to thrive and keep the lights on 24 /7. We provide a fully integrated electricity network management service which includes planning, design, delivery and operation.

What does a SCADA/ Communications Technician in our industry do?

Working in our Substation Maintenance team, you will be responsible for maintaining the communications network to our 400+ automated devices. Working alongside our senior communications technicians you will be able to learn on the job from our highly skilled team.

You will need to have:

  • a strong commitment to ensuring the health and saftey of yourself, your team and the public who use our network
  • strong interest in communications/telemetry (radio, fibre etc.), automation and electronics
  • an electronics/ electrical diploma or degree is desirable but not essential
  • electrical trades background is desirable but not essential
  • some level of workplace experience
  • full driver's licence
  • the drive and motivation to advance your career in the industry in general and in WEL in particular.
