The Mind Lab is an NZQA accredited Private Tertiary Establishment (PTE) offering 4 postgraduate programmes to candidates across New Zealand. The Mind Lab also offers classes for school groups, after school and school holiday programmes in Auckland and Gisborne.


The Mind Lab vision is to transform NZ Education to better align skills and capabilities to the demands of the contemporary world.


The Project Manager will have responsibility for leading projects within the marketing team that are on brand, face paced, creative and innovative.


The successful candidate will be an excellent project manager and super organised. The Project Manager will be a rockstar at juggling multiple projects across multiple platforms and multiple locations. Trello will be your best friend and your repository for tracking all projects.


The Project Manager will be responsible for ensuring the marketing and brand communications for The Mind Lab & Tech Futures Lab adhere to the brand guidelines. The Project Manager will also be brave and creative to advise on contemporising the brand as the business evolves.


Strategy: The Project Manager will work with the GM to strategically plan which platforms are required for each set of communications for each target audience depending on the brief. The marketing strategy will ladder up to the overall business strategy for The Mind Lab.


Requirements gathering and brief writing: The Project Manager will be familiar with design thinking process and leading workshops to gather requirements and write briefs for projects.


Data & Insights: The Project Manager will be comfortable analysing data and recognising insights and potential growth and new opportunities. The Project Manager will  work with the social media/community manager to  understanding customer behaviour across the school group programme, school holiday programme and postgrad programme to drive marketing activity. The Project Manager will map out customer journeys across all online and offline touch points. This will in turn be mirrored in the eDM platform + CRM platform preferences.


Creative: The Project Manager will be responsible for working with and mentoring the marketing team to advise on creative (design) and to steer The Mind Lab into a disruptive creative space. You will have a creative eye.


Collateral: The Project Manager will be responsible for planning and delivering all marketing collateral such as websites and portals, brochures, and magazines, radio & editorial, social media and events.


Platforms: The Project Manager will oversee the following platforms; Salesforce (CRM), Campaign Monitor (Email), WordPress (website), Facebook, Linked In, You Tube, Twitter, Instagram.


Media: The project manager will work with media suppliers to book media accordingly when required.


Team Management: The Project Manager will be responsible for managing a team consisting of designer, copywriter, social media manager, PR manager & contractors when required. Recruitment + day to day management, and HR.


Event Management: The Project Manager will be responsible for managing events with the team as and when needed.


Budget: The Project Manager will be responsible for budgets. This includes planning budgets for each campaign, tracking and signing off invoices.


Key Relationships: The Project Manager will build key relationships with the CEO, GM (Tech Futures and The Mind Lab),Marketing Team, PR Manager, National Technologist, Office Managers and agency partners.


PR: Work with the PR Manager to deliver any content required for PR opportunities.


Energy: The Project Manager will have loads of energy, a self-starter, and a motivator.


Desired Skills and Experience


You will:


  • Embody The Mind Lab values and set a service-oriented, collaborative culture within the lab through positive role-modeling


  • Engage with staff, student/teacher customers actively and personally, and create an environment in which treats all staff and customers respectfully


  • Be an energetic and positive self-starter


  • Have at least five years’ experience in a similar role


  • Have demonstrable experience in operating independently with excellent attention to detail


  • Ideally you will have existing relationships with schools and education media, influencers and policy makers
