The Waikato District Intelligence Unit based in Hamilton has a vacancy for an Intelligence analyst/trainee.

The purpose of the role is to contribute to crime and crash reduction and the prevention and disruption of criminal activity by preparing nationally-standardised intelligence products that inform and support prevention, intervention and enforcement activities.  The role within our organisation is to lead the activities for Our Business and enable our people to deliver them.

In addition to the completed application, all applications are required to submit work samples (Trainee/Analyst), and may be required to complete a scenario analysis exercise at interview. Skills:

 

  • Demonstrate analytical thinking.
  • Apply analytical techniques to interpret information for intelligence analysis.
  • Research, analyse, critically examine crime and criminality, and write intelligence products to assist decision makers.
  • Manage competing demands and high workload at times and able to demonstrate an ability to execute on their purpose.
  • Develop and maintain a wide range of positive relationships (internal and external)


Experience:

 

  • Experience using Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) to develop a high standard of reports/presentations.
  • Experience in using a variety of tools and techniques to understand a problem, develop solutions and effectively influence and inform decision-making.
  • Experience presenting (written and verbal) complex issues clearly to a range of audiences

 

Special Requirements:

 

Applicants must:

  • Hold the New Zealand Diploma in Intelligence Analysis or equivalent. If the NZDIA is not held, the applicant must have the necessary relevant experience and be able to complete and submit the required NZDIA modules within 15 months of employment. Applicants who do not meet this criteria will be considered for a Trainee Analyst role.
  • Submit samples of work with their application (refer link above).
  • Be a New Zealand Citizen or have permanent residency and be able to obtain and maintain an appropriate security clearance.
