The Mind Lab are looking to appoint an academic assistant to support the National Academic Director and the National Academic Manager across all academic programmes. The ideal candidate will be someone who is currently studying (or completed) their PhD and looking to grow their knowledge in academic management, quality assurance and ethics.

 

The Academic assistant will support the National Academic Director (NAD) and National Academic Manager (NAM) with academic tasks relating to developing and ensuring The Mind Lab’s Quality Management System (QMS).

 

The ideal candidate will likely be student who is currently studying their PhD (or completed) who is looking to grow their knowledge of academic management, quality assurance and ethics.

RESPONSIBLE FOR:

Including but not limited to:

  • Organising and keeping up to date key academic systems, for example, TML Policies & Procedures, the TML Digital Filing System, the TML Academic Calendar

  • Academic Board and Academic Quality Working Group organisation including agendas, invites, e-meetings and minutes

  • Communication to staff regarding QMS

  • Auditing and maintaining key documents such as student handbooks, policies, programme documents

  • Administration for The Mind Lab Ethics Panel

  • Administration of Academic team inbox/ queries  

  • Maintain relevant TML and TFL Databases: Supervision Register; Academic Risk & Issues Register

  • Research regulatory and legislative information to inform work being done by the QMS team

  • Organisation of professional development for staff

  • Maintaining list of Teacher Registration status for all staff

  • Work closely with the Research Enterprise and Ethics working group to ensure research database is up to date

  • Assist with reporting to key regulatory bodies

  • Work closely with the data analyst to ensure timely internal reporting of Education Performance Indicators

  • Working with QMS team to prepare for NZQA External Evaluation and Review

  • If appropriate supervision of Masters students undertaking practice based research (for the right candidate)

  • Other appropriate duties relating to academic quality work at The Mind Lab.

 

Requirements of the role

  • have the ability to work well under pressure

  • Must be eligible to work in NZ
