Access and Content Assistant - Heritage

Fixed-term (12 months) | Part-time, 25 hours a week

Do you enjoy working with people and contributing to your community?  Are you enthusiastic about seeing Upper Hutt’s heritage retained for our future generations?  Do you have a passion for sharing Upper Hutt’s local history with all?

Based in Upper Hutt City Libraries Central Branch this job:

  • Will work alongside other members of the Library team to develop, manage, and promote the Heritage collection and Library resources.
  • Will assist with outreach and promotional activities in relation to the Heritage collection
  • Will provide active customer service to Library users of all ages.

This is a 12-month fixed-term position to cover a parental leave vacancy.

The person we are seeking will preferably have:

  • A passion for working with people from all backgrounds and ages
  • Have experience or knowledge of community archives
  • Be competent and confident with various technologies
  • Have the ability to communicate well, including giving talks to community group
  • Have a well organised approach to their work
  • An understanding of the role of libraries in today’s communities
