Safe City Guardian - CCTV Camera Operator - Kaihoe Hopuata

Rotorua Lakes Council’s Safe City Guardian team plays an integral part in improving safety and perceptions of safety in our city with a primary focus on the CBD.  Presently, the Safe City Guardian team consists of individuals who provide an approachable presence on the city streets, and an additional Guardian who has a particular focus on providing CCTV monitoring functions.

These two distinct arms of the Safe City Guardian team work as one alongside our partner agencies such as the Police, to improve crime prevention and detection and ultimately, public safety.

The provision of efficient and effective CCTV monitoring services is an essential part of the Safe City Guardian team’s success and is an area that we are seeking to grow. On the back of two recent successful joint CBD Safety Campaigns with the Police and Security staff, we are now seeking an additional Safe City Guardian - CCTV Camera Operator.

This is an exciting full time, permanent role within Councils Community and Regulatory Services team for an enthusiastic individual with previous experience in Security or in a similar relatable role.

The normal hours of work will be 40 hours per week, worked over five days of the week (including Public Holidays), between the hours of 7:00am and 4:00am the following day, as per the Safe City Guardian rotating roster and in response to the needs of the community and our partner agencies.

As our ideal candidate you will have:

  • Proven and highly efficient analytical, observational, reporting, written and verbal communication skills and also be able to deal effectively with changing priorities, technology and requirements.
  • The ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as collaboratively as part of a wider team including external partners/agencies.
  • Proven experience with working in a challenging, analytical and demanding customer focused environment where process and confidentiality are key requirements.
  • The ability to express complex matters with simplicity and clarity and be able to resolve conflict, confrontation and provocation with professional integrity.
  • The ability to pass a Drug & Alcohol pre-employment test and Police Vetting.

Te Kaunihera o nga Roto o Rotorua (Rotorua Lakes Council) is committed to working in partnership with Te Arawa, our local iwi.  We aspire to being a bicultural organisation and we value staff who speak te reo Maori, have an appreciation of Maori values, and a working knowledge of tikanga Maori.

If this is the opportunity you have been looking for then check out the attached Position Description and send us your application now.

All applicants are required to submit a Cover Letter and a current CV.
