Tax Manager

We’re the largest Kiwi-owned and operated life insurer and we’re all about powering the New Zealand sense of adventure. 

We are recruiting a new Tax Manager to join our growing Finance team.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Bring your skills and experience in both tax and people leadership to provide technical guidance and mentoring to both business leaders and the wider Finance team alike. You will lead the tax function and manage tax risks and opportunities while providing strategic financial advice and insights to the business.

Some of your key responsibilities will include:

  • Provide expert advice to the business on all tax related matters
  • Management reporting of tax balances, including the provision of insights and analysis for key stakeholders
  • Initiate tax notes and disclosures for the interim and annual financial statements
  • Oversee the preparation and filing of all tax returns
  • Mentor and coach one direct report to develop their skills and capabilities.

ABOUT YOU

For this role, you will need the following skills and experience:

  • CA Qualified and a current member of CAANZ or equivalent.
  • Senior level tax experience gained in a professional services or industry function.
  • Demonstrated commercial acumen and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Expertise in income tax legislation, tax effect accounting, people management, negotiating and influencing skills. 
  • Proven analytical capability and process improvement skills.
  • Knowledge of NZ IFRS and able to work with a variety of systems and processes.
