  • Become a trusted adviser to the business
  • Conduit between the business, ePMO and Strategic Finance

The Department of Corrections is a huge and vibrantly interesting place to work. One of the largest Crown agencies, with a highly secure national presence, managing people in the best and sometime most difficult circumstances. Beyond just running a prison network safely, we are about changing lives and positively influencing the future of the people in our care.

Our Finance Team is looking to recruit a Business Partner – Finance, Property and Technology within the Business Partnering Team.

Reporting to the Director Business Partnering, the primary purpose of this position is to support the performance of business customers by improving the quality of management decisions to ensure that their business strategy is delivered in a fiscally sustainable way and within an acceptable level of risk.

Under this role you will be a trusted adviser. You will share insight and knowledge on your business customer’s perspective to improve the services provided.

The Department is an asset intensive agency with large Property and Digital portfolios. Acting as the conduit between your customer, the ePMO and Strategic Finance teams, you will be providing advice and support with the development, justification, and quantification of business cases, including benefit realisation. You will ensure all advice is aligned with internal ePMO protocols and the Strengthening Portfolio Management framework and that long term investment plan considerations are appropriately considered.

You will possess strong business acumen and a dynamic personality, as this position interacts with senior management and business teams on multiple levels, to drive performance and support the customer’s initiatives. This position requires strong interpersonal and communication skills and a high level of strategic agility and intellectual horsepower to articulate credible visions of future business opportunities.

With your deep understanding the business drivers you will combine accurate reporting and analysis to provide high quality strategic advice. You will be experienced in considering investment options, able to scrutinise assumptions supported by robust quality financial analysis. You will utilise your influencing skills in assisting the business customer in setting their strategic priorities, budget allocations, forecasting and performance measures for both operating and capital performance. As a senior Finance staff member, you will have an important role in helping improve team capability by focusing on continuous improvement across the Finance function, including providing mentoring, coaching and support to Analysts / other Finance team members.

We are looking for individuals who hold a CA qualification and a minimum of 7+ years of relevant commercial or operational experience in a commercial or public sector organisation.

What’s on offer?

Along with the opportunity to work within a large, complex and very interesting finance environment, you will be rewarded with an attractive salary, development opportunities, and an engaging team that is focussed and committed to delivering a high quality product.
