Field Services Users Compute Technician

With this in mind, we are in the market for a smart, energetic and experienced Field Services/Desktop support engineer to join our Midlands (Waikato & Bay of Plenty) team, based out of Tauranga. As a member of the Datacom team you’ll be supporting a variety of different organisations, on-site with our clients, providing break/fix support and also desktop support where needed. Our customers are geographically dispersed around the region, so you will be expected to travel extensively.

While we expect your technical ability to be a key strength – you’ll also be an outstanding communicator, have top notch customer service and relationship building skills and have a professional, can do attitude. You will be a team player with the ability to work well with others.

What we look for in our Field teams:

  • Valid NZ drivers licence and your own vehicle – this is essential.
  • Proven experience – you’ve been in a similar role at least 3-5 years’ and you’ll be bringing your depth of knowledge with you.
  • Strong hands on skills and good problem solving skills
  • It is essential you have current industry certification such as:
  • MCP in Microsoft Desktop OS (Windows 7 or higher)
  • ITIL foundation v3
  • CCNA
  • CompTIA A+
  • CompTIA Network+
  • Proven experience building and supporting end-user devices (PC’s, laptops, thin clients, printers. mobiles, tablets).
  • Ability to take initiative and read situations quickly – you’ll diagnose faults, troubleshoot and problem solve.
  • You’ll know our customers and ask questions, proactively look for work – how else can we help?
  • Technical skills - network support, windows desktop, Microsoft Office and at times server support.
  • The knack to easily manage a variety of tasks simultaneously.
  • The ability to take ownership, with a hands on approach, to continuously learn and to adapt.
  • Solution focused and ability to coordinate / manage your daily schedule.
