Educator (Casual)

As a casual Educator in our Museum Experience team, you'll assist the team to meet LEOTC participation targets by providing additional ability to meet demand during busy terms. You will be responsible for the delivery of educational, interactive, and engaging school visit experiences and educational themes for all age groups including early childhood. Your experience as an educator/teacher and ability to adapt to the needs of young children will be beneficial in this role.

Key accountabilities in this role are to:

  • On a rostered basis, coordinate the day-to-day delivery of innovative, interactive, and engaging curriculum-based education programmes to various schools, early childhood and community group visitors.
  • Identify and source resources to support the delivery of education programmes.
  • Provide memorable, ‘hands-on’, interactive learning experiences that enhance and enrich the curriculum and visitor experience.
  • Identify student learning needs through teacher negotiation.
  • Engage in learning through 'best practice' in accordance with the NZ Teachers Council Satisfactory Teacher Dimensions.

You are the best fit for the role if you:

  • Are an experienced classroom teacher, preferably within the New Zealand Curriculum.
  • Have museum or LEOTC experience, that can be applied to your role at MOTAT.
  • Have experience interacting with people of all ages and backgrounds especially children, teachers, parents/whanau, and groups.
  • Have organisational and administrative ability, and enjoy the flexibility of casual work.
