This is an exciting opportunity to join Auckland Council’s Arts and Culture Unit to demonstrate your programming flair and your strategic planning approach to building audiences across Tāmaki Makaurau. Join the team that drives arts and culture activities across Tāmaki Makaurau, integrating arts and culture into the everyday lives of Aucklanders, and contributing to a sense of identity and belonging for Aucklanders.

 

The key function of the Arts and Culture Activation & Engagement Programme Specialist is to assess audience development opportunities and develop activations for wider public engagement and community participation using strategies such as on-line engagement, education initiatives, and public activations. This role involves collaboration with a broad range of stakeholders including the arts and culture team, other units and departments of Council and external partners and contractors. Developing activations for new and existing public art will be a key focus for this position. This role assumes specialist expertise in public activations and audience development and an understanding of the role of digital content for community engagement

Ideally, you will have 3-5 years of experience in experiential design, education or programming, you are a skilled strategic planner and can create dynamic new ways of engaging public participation, you have the ability to think creatively and to work collaboratively contributes to new ways of realising audience engagement, you have the passion to tell the stories behind our work, and connecting our high level outcomes with many parts of our community in an authentic and sincere way, you know how to build strong and effective working relationships and partnerships for shared delivery and mutually beneficial outcomes, you will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills with high attention to detail, you have experience in administrating a multi-faceted and complex programme of work and you possess a high level of problem solving and decision making skills, using professional judgement and you have significant project experience, working to tight timelines and cost limitations.
