The School of Food and Advanced Technology is committed to supporting New Zealand's export-driven growth based on high value products, processes and technologies related to our bioeconomy.

Our expertise covers a very broad range of food-related and engineering disciplines.

We are looking to add a FoodPilot Process Technician to our team in Palmerston North. You will be required to assist with FoodPilot product and process trials and conduct research, practical and analytical works as directed by the Food Innovation Team Leader.

Your accountabilities will include the following:

  • Conduct product and process trials and, conduct research, practical and analytical work as instructed in a safe, precise and thorough manner meeting objectives and timescales as agreed with the project coordinator
  • Maintain standards of food quality, food safety, hygiene and housekeeping consistent with those set by the University, the FoodPilot requirements and the Food Innovation Team Leader
  • Where required, deputise/cover for team colleagues with project tasks and trials to ensure that the day-today activities are preserved.
  • Support academic activities and research projects undertaken by Massey or our collaborators, where required and agreed by the Food Innovation Team Leader

A relevant tertiary qualification in Technology, Science or related discipline is required.

It is expected that you will have some experience in analytical and/or laboratory based projects, as well as a broad range of aspects of food technology including processing technologies, have experience working in multi-disciplinary teams on projects and have proven skills and experience using Microsoft Office Suite of products.
