About the Role

The Business Coach provides practical assistance to agencies to build and improve services from a customer perspective. Using a range of evidence based methods, the Business Coach works with agency leaders and staff to shift thinking to take a systems view of the work. This includes understanding customer interactions, how work flows through their system and where waste occurs, and use this information to make sustainable on-going improvements.

The role has a significant focus on stakeholder relationships and an active role in promoting and developing the Better Everyday brand across government, to generate new opportunities for customer focussed improvement for Agencies and Leaders.

The role can be based in either Wellington or Auckland.

Skills and Experience

In order to be successful in this role you will have:

  • a deep knowledge of systems thinking and associated improvement methods
  • demonstrated experience working with continuous improvement methods in a public service environment
  • a strong customer service ethic and the ability to understand the wider context of improvement and innovation in delivering better public services
  • proven experience in developing good coaching relationships with leaders.
  • proven ability to work with and influence leaders at all levels in large organisations
  • excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • the ability to meet the criteria required to hold a NZ Government security clearance at the appropriate level
  • the ability to travel is a must.
