Venue Attendant - Queen Elizabeth Youth Centre

Bay Venues proudly manages 24 venues spread across the Tauranga, Mount Maunganui and Papamoa regions.  Our venues incorporate aquatic facilities, community centres, community halls, gyms, and the iconic Baypark facility. We offer a broad range of leisure and event products, services and programmes with a core focus on customer value and service.

We currently have the following vacancy for a venue superstar based at the Queen Elizabeth Youth Centre. You must be an active and enthusiastic individual who loves to be part of the action.

On a daily basis you can expect to set up and pack down the venue according to the customers' requirements, undertake cleaning and tidying duties to ensure the site is well presented at all times, undertake general maintenance as required, provide an efficient reception service, including fee collection, bookings, stock control and reconciliation of all money received. You will be comfortable working unsupervised, be able to think on your feet and use your initiative to problem solve.

To be successful you must:

  • Have a background or qualification in Sport, and/or Recreation and be involved in your community;
  • Have excellent communication skills with a high attention to detail;
  • Be a committed team player, who is able to act in a proactive manner;
  • Be competent on a computer with programs such as the MS Office suite of products;
  • Have the ability to retain a professional demeanor and think clearly when under pressure;
  • Be physically fit and able to manage bulky equipment;
  • Maintain a high standard of personal presentation;
  • Be first aid certified (although we do provide training);

We are open Monday to Friday 9am - 9.30pm and Weekends 9am - 6pm. We work as a team at the QEYC and this position works in with other venue attendants according to a roster. Almost all shifts are sole charge, and sometimes we work between venues and odd hours, so reliable transport is required. Ideally, we are seeking candidates who have an ability to start immediately and haven't got holidays planned in the near future.  Previous applicants need not apply.

We are offering 15 hours per week.  Additional hours may be as required, so flexibility is essential.  In return, we are offering a competitive wage, enviable staff benefits and the opportunity to work with a sweet team of individuals, whilst adding value to our community.

We value diversity, so welcome applicants from all backgrounds and experience.

All applicants must have the legal right to work in New Zealand.
