Sub-editor

Healthy Food Guide is NZ's top-selling food magazine. We are looking for an experienced, talented sub-editor to join our friendly, dynamic team.

We're looking for someone with strong feature and recipe copy editing skills; the ability to write friendly and engaging articles, headlines and incidental copy; strong InDesign skills and excellent attention to detail. This role spans print and digital platforms, so an understanding of digital publishing and social media is a bonus.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a sub-editor looking to take a meaningful next step in their career, with an independent publisher committed to editorial excellence.

The role is four days a week with some flexibility.

To be successful you will need:

  • a journalism or communications qualification
  • at least two years' editorial experience, ideally on a consumer magazine
  • an eye for detail and excellent proofreading skills
  • the ability to work to deadlines and keep calm under pressure
  • a love of working in a team and making a contribution
  • traffic management ability
  • passion for both digital and print media
  • experience using InDesign and Microsoft Word on PC.

The following would be an advantage:

  • knowledge of nutrition, cooking, science and health
  • experience subbing recipes
  • knowledge of English as spoken in other parts of the world (eg, US, South Africa) would be an advantage as we have an international digital strategy.

Please submit your CV, along with a cover letter, to editor@healthyfood.co.nz with 'sub-editor' in the subject line by 22 March.
