Year 2-3 Solicitor - Public law and Government (Litigation) - Wellington

Simpson Grierson's Wellington office has an exciting opportunity for a year 2-3 PQE solicitor to join the Public and Government team, which is part of the litigation group.

The team is led by Sally McKechnie and is a tight-knit group, who work closely together.  Due to the size of the team, you will get the benefits of working in a top tier, full service law firm, while also having the hands-on involvement offered in a smaller team.  You will be exposed to a wide range of work, have frequent opportunities to attend client meetings, and gain in-depth experience working on matters directly with Sally.

The Public Law and Government team focuses on problem-solving and giving pragmatic advice. The team's clients include universities, large commercial entities, religious institutions, telecommunications companies, Crown entities and other public and private organisations.  As part of the litigation practice at the firm, you will also advise clients on a range of dispute resolution processes. Current projects in the team include advising religious organisations in the Royal Commission into Abuse in State Care and Faith-based Institutions, the Victoria University of Wellington name change, medical sector litigation, a commercial arbitration, and advising on a range of law reform and statutory compliance issues.

Ideally you will have 2-3 years' PQE.  We are looking for someone smart and switched on, with strong communication skills and attention to detail.

In this role you'll receive mentoring and support from an inclusive, collaborative team alongside the outstanding professional development Simpson Grierson offers. We offer a competitive salary and benefits including gym subsidies, assistance with health insurance, and an active social club.  The firm won Large Law Firm Employer of Choice Award at the 2018 NZ Law Awards, and we are proud of our diverse and inclusive culture, the importance we place on work-life balance, and putting people first in everything we do.
