Where to next?
Why?
How can you make that a reality?

If you're thinking about that personally, and you'd like to work on questions like this professionally - where your work can make a difference to the future direction of Wellington City, keep reading. Wellington City Council is looking for an experienced Senior Advisor to join our Strategy team.

You

We're looking for someone who likes to look at the big picture, thinking strategically about possibilities, developing opportunities and who is driven to make them a reality.

Someone who is proactive and who is happy working with unknowns and new ideas to turn them into strategic initiatives.

In addition to creative and strategic sides, the person we're looking for will be comfortable working with detail and established processes to follow through to develop, monitor and update strategies as required.

Can you see yourself doing that?

The team - Strategy

Wellington City Council is one of New Zealand's major metropolitan local authorities with over 1500 staff and an annual expenditure of over $500 million. It plays a key role in supporting the community wellbeing, economy, environment and overall quality of life in Wellington city. We're here to help make Wellington the best place to live, work and do business.

To do this we are bold, innovative and creative - not afraid to be the first to address an issue or introduce a brand new initiative. You'll be the same.

The Strategy team provides advice to senior management and Councillors to inform the Council's future direction and decision making.

These are then operationalised through policy and implementation.

Your role

In this role you will report on current and emerging trends for the city. You'll identify strategic initiatives and programmes that support the Council's priorities.

You will grow and support the development of partnerships that promote long-term city outcomes. You'll work effectively with internal and external stakeholders, colleagues, staff, interest groups and communities to accomplish organisation goals.

You will work with senior staff and decision-makers throughout the organisation, so you will be experienced presenting advice, persuasive, professional, politically astute and culturally aware. You will be collaborative and flexible. You'll have proven strategic and project management skills and will be experienced developing organisation-wide strategies.

This is a great opportunity if you are seeking an influential and varied role. The successful applicant will be empowered to make a real difference leading the delivery of the strategic projects, and part of a team culture based on collaboration, innovation, continuous improvement and high performance.
