Farm Business Specialist

New Zealand’s dairy sector is hugely important, in fact it’s our number one primary industry and we are here to ensure it keeps going from strength to strength.

Reporting to the Head of Upper North Island, and working closely with the Upper North Island team, the purpose of this role is to assist in building the farm business and financial capability of farmers, rural professionals and DairyNZ staff.  This will be achieved through the available Financial & Farm Business management tools and services, including the industry agreed financial benchmarking tool, DairyBase.  The role also contributes to the co-development and associated pilot training of new farm business management tools, processes, and courses.

The role adds value to the dairy industry by supporting the regional adoption of desired farm business management practices. This will include working alongside the Upper NI regional teams and the Farm Business team, training / presenting, financial & physical analysis for your region, the management of key financial stakeholder relationships, support for current DairyBase and other DairyNZ Business Management tools, as well as identifying opportunities and ideas towards on-going development of product enhancements to deliver benefit to farmers and stakeholders.

For you to be successful in this role you will:

  • Have a relevant tertiary qualification in agriculture or finance/accountancy (min degree)
  • Experience in an extension, consultancy or sales type role (4-5years)
  • Demonstrated understanding of the wide range of issues relevant to dairying in New Zealand
  • Proven networking and relationship building/management skills, working with a wide range of people with varying needs

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a team that takes pride in making a difference. Applications close 31 March 2019.
