Video Journalist / Content Producer

About the role

We're seeking a video journalist/content producer who is keen to join our dynamic team and help create engaging and informative content for young Kiwis. The right person will be confident wearing multiple hats with the technical skill to create a whole story from start to finish. That crazy idea you have? It's welcome here.

About us:

Re: is TVNZ's alternate news brand which delves deep and wide into topics of concern and interest to young Kiwis. Since launch in July 2017, Re: has created a vault of 900 original videos, amassed 80,000 followers and 45 million video views.

Re: operates as a digital-first start up under the umbrella of TVNZ. We are a diverse squad of video journalists, producers, storytellers, thinkers and tinkerers.

Content revolving around topics such as sustainability, mental health, drugs, LGBTQIA, education, prisons, technology and innovation is distributed across our various social platforms and now, our brand new website. Innovation, experimentation and fresh ideas are encouraged.

We are committed to representing all those who make NZ the complex beauty we call home: That means travelling outside of our urban centres to capture the essence of our regions; sharing stories from marginalised communities and giving voices to those who often feel neglected.

Do you Re:late to our content? Does it make you Re:act? Do you want to be a part of a brand your peers Re:spect? If you're not in Auckland, would you Re:locate? Are you amazed how Re:ally flexible our brand name is?

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Have an understanding of the ideas and issues which concern and interest young Kiwis
  • Have a nose for news and the ability to find an angle of importance to the Re: audience

  • Be committed to achieving weekly deadlines
  • Be curious, interested, thoughtful, open-minded
  • Be comfortable both giving and taking feedback
  • Know your its from it's and have a commitment to accuracy
  • Be able to carry a story from conception to completion
  • Have a basic understanding of media law
  • Be organised, efficient, have the ability to change tack
